まだ上京してまもない頃​、祖父の入院している病院を訪ねました。

入院していたといってもその頃はまだ元気な姿だったと記憶しています。

手に入れたばかりのフィルムカメラに手こずりながら、夢中で祖父を撮影。

その時は気が付かなかったけれど、現像してフィルムを見てみると祖父は私のほうばかりを見て笑っていました。

それを見たとき私はなんだかすごく嬉しくて、今でも大切な写真になっています。

その日の最後、祖父はまたあの笑顔を見せて「がんばれよ」とだけ言ってくれました。

Shortly after I moved to Tokyo, I visited the hospital where my grandfather was hospitalized.

I remember that even though he was hospitalized, he was still in good health at that time.

I was taking pictures of my grandfather with the film camera I had just acquired.

 

I didn't realize it at the time, but when I looked at the film after developing it,

I saw that my grandfather was looking only at me and smiling.

When I saw that, I was so happy that it became a precious photograph for me.

 

At the end of the day, he smiled at me again and said, “Good luck”.
